On April 26, 2023, officials from the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), led by Dr. Charinyar Saiyud, Acting Expert on Regional Development Strategy, along with Ms. Pojnapon Kritthitayawut, Senior Policy and Planning Analyst, and Mr. Panthasit Charoenpanitpan, Acting Policy and Planning Analyst, participated in the 2nd meeting of the Kalasin Province Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Steering and Implementation Committee for 2023 via teleconference. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Prachya Unphetworakorn, Deputy Governor of Kalasin Province, with participation from heads of government agencies, representatives from public, private, and academic sectors, totaling over 80 attendees.<\/p>\n\n
The meeting was briefed on the results of the field visit to Kalasin Province by NESDC representatives on January 24, 2023, where it was agreed that Kalasin Province would serve as one of the pilot areas for SDGs implementation at the local level, focusing on concrete actions and fostering cooperation with development partners from all sectors.<\/p>\n\n
The meeting also discussed the draft Sustainable Development Goals Implementation Plan for Fiscal Year 2023 of Kalasin Province. NESDC participated in the exchange and provided recommendations regarding the development of the SDGs implementation plan, which should consider alignment with data from provincial and provincial cluster development indicator reports. Additionally, consideration should be given to including projects from local agencies, including local administrative organizations, private sector, and civil society, in Kalasin Province’s SDGs implementation plan. This would enable the plan to better integrate solutions for urgent challenges at the local level, such as poverty, public health, and education issues. The meeting acknowledged these recommendations and will apply them to Kalasin Province’s current SDGs implementation plan and future development of such plans.<\/p>\n\n
Projects that Kalasin Province plans to implement for sustainability under the SDGs Implementation Plan for Fiscal Year 2023 include the Kalasin Green Market Standard Elevation to Organic Agriculture Project, the Kalasin Province Tourism Promotion Project, and the Justice for Happiness and Inequality Reduction Project. The Kalasin Province SDGs Steering and Implementation Committee mechanism will be used for monitoring and evaluation.<\/p>\n\n
