Intergenerational Equality Report 2024

Intergenerational equality is a global initiative that aims to drive change through comprehensive approaches spanning multiple age groups and sectors, focusing on key issues such as equal compensation, fair distribution of unpaid care work, elimination of gender-based violence, access to healthcare services, and increased political participation of women

The Intergenerational Equality Report 2024, Third Edition presents the results of the “Commitments Reporting Survey 2024”. In the past year, following the mid-term assessment in 2023, it was found that 53% of commitment makers reported progress on 71% of their commitments, representing a significant increase of 40 percentage points from 2022. Additionally, there were 165 new commitment makers reporting progress for the first time, reflecting increased participation and accountability

This positive trend is also reflected in the $50.3 billion budget that governments, private sector, and multilateral organizations have committed to promoting gender equality. Furthermore, the Women, Peace, and Security and Humanitarian Action Compact (WPS-HA Compact) indicates that global instability affects 52% of signatories, requiring 42% to accelerate measures in areas affected by conflict

This report emphasizes the crucial role of the Intergenerational Equality initiative in promoting gender equality within the framework of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, with 94% of commitment makers supporting the extension of this initiative beyond 2026. The report also reflects that “Intergenerational Equality” has become an important mechanism that helps accelerate the achievement of sustainable development goals and aligns with the vision of the “Summit of the Future 2024”, particularly in promoting effective global cooperation
